I love it when I get the opportunity to make a decorated cake! I love testing out my skills and working out new ways to create different things. These lego bricks were definitely a challenge! In the end a made them by rolling out sugar paste and cutting out the rectangles and then using the small end of a small round piping nozzle to cut out each individual lego peg. It took some time, let me tell you.

The concept of this cake is that it is constructed in lego and then covered in the icing by all the little lego builders and bakers. You can find the ones used below.

I’m in love with this cake topper! I think a lego cake topper would be amazing on any kind of cake. Find it on amazon here.

The colour scheme of the wedding was red and blue so making the bricks those colours made sure that the cake fit in with their scheme perfectly. The cake was a big hit and I’ve already been asked by two other people to make birthday versions of this cake.

I’ve bombarded you with pictures, I know, but I just wanted to make sure you saw it from every angle. 😉

I’ve been decorating cakes for a few years now and a lot of practice has helped me to improve so much. My first cakes were so far from what I’m able to make now! One day I will do a post showing my cakes and how they have improved over time. If you are interested in cake decorating there is a lot of equipment available out there. For each cake you make you might need special moulds, stencils etc but I wanted to share with you the items I use literally every time I make a decorated cake. They are my absolute essentials.

Cake Tools | Fondant Smoothers | Cake turntable | Offset Spatula | Icing Scraper | Starter Nozzles | Disposable Icing Bags

I really hope you have enjoyed my Lego Wedding Cake and my Cake Decorating Essentials. Please leave me your comments at the very bottom of the page, I love to hear from you all.

Yeah! I wouldn’t imagine my son eating an entire whole cake by himself although he likes sweets but still while he’s still young I want him to be careful on what he eats. God bless always! 🙂

Thank you! It took a few hours to make the lego pieces that’s for sure 😀 I didn’t time myself but I’d say about 10 hours total including baking, icing and decorating 🙂

What did you make the LEGO blocks out of. Royal icing, fondant or what? I have been doing cakes for years but will attempt to do my first LEGO wedding cake for a niece in August. I have silicone molds but not sure how to fill them or with what. Thank you.

Hello I used a flower paste. I didn’t use a mould, I just cut rectangles out of the flower paste and stacked them like Lego. I then used a piping tip as a cutter to cut out the small circles to make the top bricks look like Lego (I only added these to the top layer bricks). It was very fiddly lol. I hope that helps
